Description
The property at 2 and 4 Wyre Hill is likely originally two houses, subsequently divided into four, and later converted into a single dwelling, now again divided into two separate houses. The core of the building probably dates to the second half of the 15th century, with a 17th-century extension and alterations in the late 18th century, with further work in the mid-19th and late 20th centuries. The structure is timber-framed and has brick infill, painted, with a tile roof. The original three bays of the 15th century are visible, with a further two framed bays probably added in the 17th century to the west. The building is two storeys high and has four windows. The upper floor windows are 2-light casements. The ground floor windows are similar, but two to the left have segmental heads. An entrance is located between the two right-hand windows, sheltered by a tile lean-to canopy supported by plain wooden posts and featuring a wooden architrave with a segmental head containing a 20th-century stable door. The left-hand gable end shows two struts to the collar and a clasped purlin, with curved tension braces on the first floor. A short timber-framed rear wing with painted brick infill is present at this end of the property.
