Description
Avon Bridge House is an early to mid-19th century building located on Bridge Street. It is constructed of stucco and features two storeys, a basement, and an attic. The front façade has a rusticated ground storey, with the basement below road level and obscured. There are five sash windows set in moulded architraves with keyblocks, a sill band, and a moulded cornice at the first floor. The central doorway is framed by a Roman Doric porch, and there are two dormers with segmental pediments. The sides of the building have pseudo quoins, and a dentilled modillion eaves cornice runs along the roofline, which is hipped and covered with slate. On the right-hand side, there is a one-window bay with an arched doorway. The property also includes cast iron railings surrounding a sunken forecourt. A modern one-storey addition has been made at the rear. The building was unoccupied in 1976.
