Description

Becks Farmhouse is a late 18th century farmhouse, now a house, located on School Road in Hanbury. It was altered and extended in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick with a plain tiled hipped roof and a central ridge stack. The rectangular plan includes a central lobby entrance. The two-storey facade has a dentilled eaves cornice and comprises three bays. Windows have moulded architraves and cambered heads; the ground floor windows are 16-pane sashes, while the first floor has 2-light casement windows. A blind window is located centrally on the first floor. The central entrance has a doorway with a cambered head, a flat moulded canopy supported on shaped brackets, and a six-panel door with raised and fielded panels. Later 20th century additions were made at the rear of the property. Becks Farmhouse was once part of the Vernon Estate and retains its original lobby entry plan and the symmetry of its front facade. It is situated near Granary House and a barn, both separately listed.
