Description
This is a late 17th century and 18th century five-bay barn located 50 yards southeast of Southend Farmhouse in Upton-upon-Severn. The barn is constructed of brick and features plain tile roofs with gable ends and a brick eaves cornice. On the north side, two 19th-century gables have been added, which include segment-arched loading doors. The south side has five openings, four of which are segment-arched, while one has been altered. The two western bays are original and contain massive beams supporting the loft floor, featuring a queen strut tie beam and collar truss, along with a truncated angle strut tie-beam and collar truss. The three eastern bays were added later, with purlins supported by brick internal walls. A ventilating turret is present, marked with "SHS 1680" on the vane.
