Description

The archway located immediately to the northeast of No 39 on Finstall Road is likely from the mid to late 19th century. It features a sandstone arched gateway with a heavy entablature topped by a flat pediment, which has a central raised section displaying a shield. The wide cornice is modillioned and is supported by square piers that exhibit verniculated rustication and moulded capitals. Between these piers is a semi-circular arch, which includes rusticated voussoirs, a keystone, and moulded imposts set on rusticated pilasters.
