Description
This is a barn located about 30 yards north of Dodford Priory, built in the early 19th century with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick on a sandstone base and features a plain tiled roof. The barn has five bays that run east to west, with a central wagon bay flanked by gabled midstreys on the north and south sides, each having opposing cart entries. The exterior displays diaper ventilation patterns, a header ventilation course at the eaves level, and a dentilled eaves cornice. There are blind circular openings at the apex of the midstreys, which are surrounded by three pigeonholes that include alighting ledges. The north elevation has three windows. Inside, the roof consists of intermediate collar and tie-beam trusses supported by two struts and two tiers of trenched purlins. There is a lean-to addition at the east end. The drive to Dodford Priory now passes through the threshing floor, and the barn faces its main front elevation. This barn is included for its group value with the nearby priory.
