Description
Three houses, now offices, were built in the early 19th century. They are located on the south side of Queen Street, Wolverhampton. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, although the ground floor of No. 49 has been plastered. The roofs are slate-covered, with brick stacks. The buildings are arranged on a double-depth plan and have three storeys plus a basement. They present a symmetrical six-window facade. A sill band runs across the first and second floors, and a cornice tops the building. The windows have decorative friezes with oval detailing and consoles supporting the cornices. The ground-floor windows have 16 panes, the first-floor windows 12 panes, and the second-floor windows 9 panes. There are three round-headed entrances with fielded panel reveals. Fanlights with glazing bars are above the six-panel doors, and Doric aedicules (small porticos) with entablature blocks and open pediments frame the entrances. A gable-end stack and two cross-axial stacks are present. Basement area walls and likely later railings are also part of the property. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to contain features of interest.
