Description
The Royal Exchange Public House is a public house, likely built in the mid-18th century and altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and features a tile roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a string course above the ground floor. The windows are 3-light timber casements with a transom, except for those on the ground floor of the second and third bays, which have timber canted bays containing sashes with glazing bars. There are doors to the right of the first bay and between the second and third bays, with the latter featuring a doorcase with a cornice on brackets. The building has chimneys on the gables and between the first and second bays. Inside, both rooms illuminated by the bay windows have axial beams; the left-hand beam is boxed, while the right-hand beam is exposed with visible common joists.
