Description
St Mary's Abbey ruins, located at Manor Farm, were founded in 1215 for the Premonstratensians. The remains primarily date from the 13th century and are situated around a modern farmhouse. The north wall of the barn incorporates part of the south aisle of the church, featuring two claustral doorways. There are fragments of the south transept and two lancet windows, as well as portions of the south transept chapel and the north wall of the chancel. A substantial wall of the refectory includes four lancets and an undercroft. A well-preserved detached shell, likely the Abbatial House from the 13th century, has coupled lancets and some 16th-century lights, along with the original timber roof. Additionally, there are foundations of the chapter house, which remain uncertain.
