Description
11 Priory Row is a building from the early 18th century, with its front and basement walls dating back to that period, while the interior and roof were rebuilt after being damaged by bombing. The front is made of red brick with stone dressings. It features a stone plinth that supports six fluted Roman Ionic pilasters beneath an entablature at the second floor level. There are short plain pilasters at the top floor, which are positioned under a frieze and cornice that project forward. The building has five sash windows with glazing bars, which are surrounded by architraves that have eared details on the ground and first floors, along with keystones and brick window aprons on the first floor. The central door is topped with a traceried oblong fanlight, all set within a rusticated architrave that has a triple keystone, positioned in front of a pulvinated frieze under a pediment. There are three stone steps leading up to the door, and the plinth extends forward to create pedestals under the pilasters. Nos 7 to 11, along with the front gate and railings to No 11, form a cohesive group.
