Description

The Golden Cross Inn is a late 16th-century building, reputedly dating to circa 1583. It is constructed of timber framing with plaster infilling, and has undergone significant restoration. The inn is three storeys high, with a machine tiled roof and modern brick chimney stacks. The upper floors project outwards, supported by exposed timbers. Restored, four-light wooden casement windows are present, along with a corner post featuring curved brackets and clustered slim pilasters. A modern ground floor has been introduced. The returned side gable has plain bargeboards. Inside, the first floor retains an exposed dragon beam in the ceiling.
