Description

This is a substantial two-storey, three-bay buff stucco villa, originally part of the Calthorpe estate, dating from around 1815. It was likely constructed as part of the early development of the area. Slightly recessed bay wings were probably added later.

The main block features shallow rustication on the ground floor, a plinth, and a first-floor sill band. It has flat, bracketed eaves to a low-pitched slate roof. A single ground-floor window on the left is set within a shallow rectangular panel that extends down to the plinth. The window on the right, likely from around 1850-60, is a tripartite bay with Doric plasterwork and an entablature. The first floor has glazing bar sashes, with a tripartite window on the right featuring stucco dividers. A porch with coupled Roman Doric columns supports a triglyph and medallion frieze, and a modillion cornice with a blocking course. The panelled reveal of the round-headed doorway has a fanlight with an inverted looped radial and marginal glazed pattern.

Later 19th-century windows are visible on the wings. Modern school extensions to the right are not included as part of the listed building. The design is similar to that of No. 4 Church Road.
