Description
Icknield Street School, also known as St Chad's Roman Catholic Annexe, was built in 1883 by Martin and Chamberlain. The building is constructed of red brick and features a tile roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles and finials. It is partly two-storeyed and partly three-storeyed, with gabled bays. The principal gabled bays have triple windows, while the others have couplets, all of which are lancet-shaped. A notable feature is the well-crafted moulded chimney stack located on the east wing. Additionally, the building boasts a striking slated spire that rises in three stages, separated by wooden louvres, and is topped with elaborate ironwork.
