Description

The Old Smithy, located at 70 Birmingham Road, is a building with a medieval core featuring a cruck timber frame that spans three bays. The front wall is constructed partly of 15th century sandstone ashlar and partly of 19th century red brick. It includes casement windows, with one ground floor window being a three-light mullioned design. The building has an old tiled roof and a stone chimney stack that has been restored in red brick. For further details, see Chatwin and Harcourt's "The Bishop Vesey Houses," pages 5-6.
