Description
The Church of St James, located on Mere Green Road, was built between 1854 and 1855 by architect D R Hill. The main structure features a nave and a west tower, constructed with stone dressed cement rendering, and includes lancet windows, buttresses, and pinnacles on the tower. The east end, designed in the Arts and Crafts Gothic style, was completed between 1906 and 1908 by C E Bateman and showcases elaborate painted and carved decoration. The church also contains an ornate organ case.
