Description

1 and 1A Brook Street is a part of Leicester Hospital and is a 15th-century timber-framed building featuring small flush gables and an old tiled roof. The structure has plaster infilling, and the lower storey is underbuilt with stone and brickwork. It includes 18th-century and modern leaded casements and a six-panel door. The interior originally had a central open hall, which was recessed before a floor was inserted around 1600. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 54 and 56, and the Hospital of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, in High Street, as well as West Gate and St James's Chapel.
