Description

These are two buildings, numbers 41 and 43 High Street, likely dating back to the 16th century. The original structure is timber-framed, with the first floor projecting outwards (jettied). The building is characterised by three identical triangular gables, decorated with 19th-century barge boards. The upper floors were once covered in 18th-century roughcast plaster, which is now in poor condition. The windows are 19th-century casement windows. The ground floor has been rebuilt in brick, with a partly plastered base. Fragments of closely spaced timber studs are visible on the left bay, along with two large, curved brackets supporting the jettied upper floor. The building features an 18th and 19th-century chimney stack and an old tile roof. These buildings are historically significant as part of a group of listed buildings along High Street.
