Description

This is an early 18th century ashlar terrace, originally comprising numbers 2 to 14 on the south-west side of The Butts. Number 14 is two storeys high, while the rest of the terrace rises to three storeys. Each property has a four-panel entrance door, topped with a semi-circular fanlight containing moulded archivolts. The windows are sash windows within cased frames, with glazing bars. The window surrounds are plain, with simple keyblocks. The eaves are defined by modillions and a molded stone cornice. The building is topped with old tiles. Number 12 has a later, visually contrasting oriel bay on the upper floors. The terrace forms a group with The Old Deanery and The Glebe House, along with the stone wall to the Deanery garden.
