Description

3, The Butts is an early 19th century building of three bays and two storeys. It presents a symmetrical facade of ashlar sandstone, though the stone is now in rather poor repair. A moulded cornice runs along the eaves, with a string course marking the level of the first floor. Flat pilasters define the quoins, and a projecting plinth is also visible. The windows are sash windows set within cased frames. The central entrance features a six-panel door and a rectangular fanlight above. Ground-floor window openings are set in segmental-headed reveals. The roof is low-pitched and covered with Welsh slates. The windows and fanlight retain their original glazing bars. Nos. 1 to 15 (odd) form a group.
