Description
The plunge pool, located approximately 50 meters northwest of Packwood House, dates from around 1680. It features a red brick basin with stone chamfered coping. There is a brick water faucet with stone quoins and a stone ashlar front, topped by a stone roof. The faucet has a round-arched opening adorned with a foliate bracket supporting an armorial bearing. The stone roof is worn and has an ogee shape, complemented by a stone cornice. It is believed that the plunge pool was likely built by John Featherston, who is also thought to have planted the Yew Garden, which is traditionally said to represent the "Sermon on the Mount."
