Description
No 1 Jury Street is a late 17th century building that is part of a larger structure with No 2 Church Street. The exterior walls are currently covered with later stucco. The building stands three storeys tall plus an attic, featuring a two-window facade facing Jury Street and a six-window facade facing Church Street. Both elevations have sash windows set in plain reveals. The corners of the building are accentuated by three-storey stone Corinthian pilasters, topped with a projecting section of entablature. A large wooden cornice projects forward over the pilasters, decorated with egg-and-tongue moulding, carved console brackets, and paterae on the soffit. There are unobtrusive 19th century plate glass shopfronts. Additionally, No 2 Church Street includes a simple doorcase with attached Doric columns and a six-panel door. A hipped dormer is present on the Jury Street side, and the roof is covered with old tiles. Inside, there is a panelled room on the first floor.
