Description

The Stone House, located on High Street, dates from around 1750, with a date of 1752 noted on the rainwater head. The building is constructed of sandstone and has two storeys with five windows, which do not have glazing bars, with the central window being a prominent feature. It features a central angular bay topped with a moulded stepped parapet. The entrance has a moulded arched doorcase that includes a central keyblock and square-section pilasters with plain abaci. The building also has moulded stone eaves, two dormers, and is covered with old tiles. The Stone House is part of a group that includes Nos 64 to 78 on the even side of the street. Alterations were made in 1965.
