Description
The Malt Shovel Public House is a timber-framed cottage dating from the 17th century, with significant later additions. The original part of the building is two storeys high and features a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends. The walls have painted brick infill panels. At the east gable, there is a large sandstone chimney stack with a red brick shaft that projects from the wall. At the rear, there is a small timber-framed gabled wing on the west end. The later additions, from the 19th and 20th centuries, are generally two storeys tall, constructed of painted brick, and also have steeply pitched plain tile roofs with gables.
