Description
This building, known as No. 1 Old Town, is a town house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the early 18th century, with a front added around 1800. The structure is timber-framed with a brick front featuring buff headers and a tiled roof with a brick end stack, showcasing a Georgian style.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The centre of the facade projects slightly forward under a pedimental gable. It features a brick plinth and a platt band above the ground floor, topped with a modillioned brick cornice and gable. The round-headed entrance is adorned with a bracketed open pediment and a fanlight that has decorative glazing bars above a six-fielded-panelled door. The windows are fitted with rubbed brick flat arches and keys over 16-pane sash windows in moulded frames. There are also two hipped dormers with two-light leaded casements, flanking a lunette window that has a key to the brick arch and three-light glazing. On the left side, there is a timber-framed wing extending to the rear.
