Description
27 Bridge Street is a hotel that has been converted into a shop. It features an early 19th-century re-fronting of an earlier building. The exterior is finished in stucco with a slate roof and brick stacks, designed in an L-shape. The building stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. There is a sill band on the second floor, along with a top entablature that includes a richly moulded cornice and parapet.
The entrance is marked by a moulded doorcase with a consoled cornice and an overlight above paired three-panel doors. Flanking the entrance are 20th-century bay windows. To the right of the entrance, there is another entrance featuring pilasters and an entablature with a gabled block and a glazed door. The first floor has windows with moulded sills and architraves, which contain 16-pane sash windows. The second floor has similar windows with sill brackets and 4/8-pane sashes. At the back, there is a wing with cross-axial stacks.
