Description
Nethercote House is a late 18th-century house with alterations from the early and mid 19th century. The left range is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and brick, while the main range is of Flemish bond brick, with the right half stuccoed. The building has old tile roofs, with renewed brick end and ridge stacks. It is arranged in an L-shape, featuring a wing on the left. The symmetrical right half of the main range has a central 8-panelled door with an overlight, set within a plain stuccoed porch of columns and a simple entablature. It contains tripartite sashes, with a central sash window. The left part of the main range features tripartite 9-pane sashes, and includes a blocked doorway. A one-storey, end-attic wing with a single window is present on the left. The front and part of the right return side of the wing are of brick and include a plank door and a small casement window. The wing’s attic features a leaded 2-light casement, while the right return side has stable and plank doors, alongside a horizontal sash window. Openings in the left ranges are defined by brick shallow segmental arches, painted above the windows. The irregular rear elevation includes a mid 19th-century range on the left and a lean-to on the right of the main range, with three 2-light dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
