Description
This chest tomb, dating from the late 17th century, is located approximately 21 meters south of the porch of the Church of St. Giles in Exhall. It is made of sandstone and features a moulded plinth and an elaborately moulded cornice. The corners of the tomb are adorned with Tuscan antae, while the south side has pilasters that frame a wide central section. The narrow flanking sections each contain two ornamental panels with circles and bars. The central pitched section of the top is decorated with a pediment that has a skull and crossbones carved on the north side and a dove on the south side. The ends of the tomb have single panels featuring a large oval with bars and four small circles.
