Description

Hawkesbury Hall is a house built in the mid 18th century, believed to be dated 1760, with mid 19th century wings and attached outbuildings. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a moulded stone cornice. The building has slate hipped roofs and brick ridge stacks, with a double-depth plan that extends to a T-plan. The central block is three storeys high and has a four-window range. The sash windows have brick flat arches with keystones, while the lower top floor includes 20th century top-hung windows. The return sides display three brick bands, with the lower two featuring a dog-tooth pattern.

The two-storey wings are set back from the main block. On the right side, there is a small one-window block in the re-entrant angle that includes a fielded six-panelled door and fanlight, with panelled reveals and a painted wood Tuscan Doric porch topped with an open pediment. Each wing has a large stone Venetian window on the first floor. The left wing's ground floor has two late 19th century one-light windows, while the right wing features two sashes with rusticated stone flat arches and keystones. There is another sash in a further lower range, and on the far right, a very large round-arched window with a moulded stone arch and a door. The rear of the building has been altered. The third bay of the central block includes a six-panelled door and fanlight with a painted rusticated surround, consoles, and an open pediment.

The attached outbuildings are located at right angles to the wings and are one storey high with six bays. They feature blind arcading with blind lunettes and some blind windows, along with various doors. The left wing has two bays of double doors with basket arches. The interiors have not been inspected.
