Description

No. 119 High Street is a house that has been converted into a bank. It was built in the late 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. The building is made of red brick and features a plain tile roof with brick integral end stacks. It stands three storeys tall, with the second floor having reduced proportions and a dentilled eaves band.

The façade consists of three bays, featuring 12-pane glazing bar sash windows with rusticated wedge-shaped lintels and raised keystones. The central windows are blind and painted to imitate glazing bar sashes. On the ground floor to the left, there is a bow window that contains two glazing bar sashes and is flanked by panelled pilasters. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a panelled pine doorcase and an open pediment that includes a fanlight with radiating glazing bars.

To the right, there is a 19th-century single-storey, four-bay extension that has modillioned eaves and a panelled chimney stack. The left side of the extension features an eight-panel double-leaf door with a rounded arch and raised key, topped by a boldly projecting bracketed hood. To the right of this door, there are three windows with bracketed sills, Gibbsian surrounds, and raised keys. The interior of the building has been altered.
