Description
Teachers House is a former schoolmaster's house dating from the late 17th century, which was restored in the late 20th century. It is built of Flemish bond brick with mostly renewed sandstone dressings and features a stripped old plain-tile roof with internal stacks at the rear. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical five-window front. Architectural details include a moulded plinth, sill course, cornice, and giant angle pilasters. The late 20th-century fielded six-panelled door is framed by a renewed moulded architrave with narrow vertical panels and a large segmental pediment. Above the door, there is an old sundial with a renewed panel surround that merges with the pediment. The windows are made of wood and metal, featuring mullions and transoms with glazing bars, arranged in two lights for the end bays and three lights for the inner bays, all with brick flat arches and keystones. There are two roof dormers with wood pediments and 20th-century casements. The left side of the building is constructed from sandstone rubble, while the right side has a one-bay range with an old window on the ground floor and a blocked window above. The interior has not been inspected.
