Description
Gates and gate piers to Mill Meece pumping station, now museum, erected circa 1914 for the Staffordshire Potteries Waterworks Company.
MATERIALS: the gates are of cast iron with brick piers.
EXTERIOR: a pair of cast-iron gates attached to brick piers stand at the entrance to the pumping station site. The gates have vertical bars with a stepped geometric design above the top rail. Applied lettering to the left-hand gate reads ‘STAFFORDSHIRE / WATER’ whilst applied lettering to the right-hand gate reads ‘POTTERIES / BOARD’. When the gates are closed the lettering displays ‘STAFFORDSHIRE POTTERIES WATER BOARD’.
