Description
A planned group of farm buildings dating from around 1820. Constructed in Flemish bond red brick with slate hipped roofs, featuring lead roll hips and ridges and a brick dentil eaves course. The layout is symmetrical, with Home Farmhouse to the west, stables and a cartshed range to the south, and a converted implement-shed with a loft to the north. The farmstead incorporates several yards and E-shaped ranges, including a large barn to the east, a shelter-shed range to the north, and stabling in other ranges. The long barn on the east side features blind arcading on both sides, with some arches on the east side containing oculi, formerly pitching-eyes. The north side's shelter-shed has elliptical arch openings facing the yard, now mostly blocked. A ventilator is located over the east-end of the roof on the central range. The south range has a later 19th-century outshut on its south side. To the south of Home Farmhouse, a range includes stables and a loft with large openings on both sides, alongside a lower cartshed range with four elliptical arch doorways on its east side. Note that the converted implement-shed range to the north of Home Farmhouse and 20th-century sheds in the south yard are not considered to have special architectural or historic interest.
