Description

The building at 76 High Street, Eccleshall, is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a core dating back to the late 16th or early 17th century. It is constructed of plastered brick with a stone plinth. The west gable is partly of timber frame, with exposed elements revealed during restoration work in 1978. The building is two storeys high and features three sash windows; the outer windows are three-light, and the central window has a keyblock. Plain pilasters are located on either side of the central window, topped with moulded caps, and a pediment sits above. A moulded cornice runs along the first floor. The doorway is framed by a moulded wooden pilaster and a pediment, with a part-glazed panelled door accessed by stone steps. The roof is tiled, and the eaves are plain. The interior includes some exposed ceiling beams, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
