Description

Giffard's Cross is a cross located approximately 10 yards south of Giffard's Cross Lodge in Brewood, Staffordshire. Its exact date is unclear, but it has been in existence since at least 1838. The cross is made of wood and features pegged lap joints. The arms of the cross originally ended in trefoils. It is said to mark the spot where Sir John Giffard, who died in 1556, shot a panther.
