Description
This building is a barn that also incorporates a cowhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It is timber framed with brick infill and has a slate roof. The structure is a four-bay range aligned from north-west to south-east, with the cowhouse located in the north-west bay and the barn featuring a central threshing floor to the south-east. It is a single storey, with a full-height two-leaf barn door positioned to the right of the center, boarded doors to the left serving both the cowhouse and barn, and an inserted doorway to the right.
The framing consists of two panels at the eaves; the barn has square panels below and vertical rectangular panels above, while the cowhouse has the positions reversed, with long straight tension braces. Inside, the cross-frames include central vertical posts situated between the sill-beam and tie-beam. The roof trusses feature angle struts extending from the tie-beam to the principal rafters, along with two pairs of purlins and a ridge piece. The nearby Lower Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
