Description

Arkall Farmhouse is a red-brick farmhouse dating to 1777, with minor alterations made in the 20th century. A plaque on the left-hand gable confirms the date. The house has a plain tile roof and brick integral end stacks. It is arranged in a roughly L-shaped plan, with the main range oriented north-east/south-west, facing south-east, and a rear wing oriented north-west/south-east. The principal range has three storeys, with a reduced size to the second floor, and originally had three windows. These windows now contain 20th-century hardwood casements set within their original surrounds, which have segmental heads. The ground-floor window on the left has been enlarged in the 20th century. A central six-panelled door, with the two upper panels glazed, leads to a 20th-century rustic porch with a hipped roof.

Inside, the farmhouse retains 18th-century wainscotting, which has been reused. A staircase features stick balusters, and the main beams are chamfered and stop-chamfered with run-out stops. There is also a plain service staircase in the rear wing.
