Description
The remains of Bellamour Old Hall are a house dating from the early 17th century. The attic storey was removed around 1840, and the building was partly demolished in the 1960s. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar with ashlar stacks and is now roofless. The house features a chamfered plinth and stands to a height of two storeys in parts. The front has four windows with mullioned and transomed designs, featuring concave quarter circle-moulded members.
There is a central former two-storey porch that was added later than the original house, providing access to a Tudor arch doorway with a moulded surround that stops halfway down the jambs. On the right side, there is a left-hand doorway with a cyma recta moulded dripstone and a right-hand doorway with a three-centred arch and a nail-studded door.
Inside, the ground and first floors are divided into two front and two rear rooms, making a total of eight rooms, each heated by a fireplace with a Tudor arch and ovolo-moulded surround, served by one of two central chimney stacks. The front rooms are above cellars that have blocked-stone mullioned windows facing the front. At the time of the resurvey, the remains of Bellamour Old Hall were in a neglected and dangerous condition.
