Description
The Burnthouse is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions from the late 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with brick infill and additions, topped with a tiled roof and an end stack on the right. The building is single storey with a dormer-lit attic, showcasing two gabled dormers that are widely spaced over the exposed timber frame on the left. The dormers consist of two tiers of square panels, with two ground floor panels containing casement windows and one under the eaves to the right. The right side of the cottage slightly projects forward, likely due to 18th-century brickwork, and has two small windows flanking the entrance, which features a boarded door and a 20th-century framed gabled porch. There are also 20th-century additions to the right. The timber frame extends to the rear, with an 18th-century brick gable on the right side.
