Description
This is a pair of unoccupied cottages located approximately 100 yards south of Nook Farmhouse. The cottages were originally one structure that was extended, likely in the 18th century with an extension added in the early 19th century. The earlier section is constructed from coursed and square stone, partly in ashlar, while the later section is made of ashlar featuring local herringbone tooling. The cottages have a clay tile roof with coped verges and are low, single-storey buildings with a loft.
The earlier part, situated on the right, has a roughly central door, a two-light casement window to the right, and two smaller windows to the left at staggered heights indicating the loft, along with a stone integral end stack. The later section on the left has a door to the left and a two-light casement window, as well as a stone ridge stack. Inside the right-hand cottage, there is a bracketed chimneypiece. These cottages are included in the listing partly for their sociological interest.
