Description
Tetley House is a house that underwent early 19th century rebuilding of a 17th century structure. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped plain tile roof with brick stacks. The house has three storeys, with reduced proportions on the second floor and dentilled eaves. It consists of three bays, each with 16-pane glazing bar sash windows that have wedge lintels designed to look like voussoirs and raised keystones. The central door is topped with a rectangular overlight and is framed by a cornice hood and a moulded surround. Inside, there are moulded 17th century ceiling beams and limestone fireplace surrounds, with one being reeded and the other two having ovolo moulding. Tetley House is part of a picturesque group of buildings that includes Marchington Hall.
