Description
Ellastone Bridge is a road bridge that spans the River Dove, built in the 18th century with some minor later alterations. It is constructed of sandstone and features two wide segment arches, each adorned with raised hoodmoulds and keystones. Central triangular cutwaters rise into the parapets between the arches. On both the north and south sides, there are similar but shallower arches that do not have water flowing through them. Above the arches, there is a continuous plain band with parapets that are capped by chamfered copings. The parapets include large stone blocks at either end, with the block on the northern end inscribed with the date 1777. At the southern end of the bridge, the walls curve to the east to align with the road.
