Description
The Carrington family memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 30 yards south of the south chapel of the Church of St Giles. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb has an oblong plan with two panels on each side and one panel at each end, all featuring quadrant corners. It includes textured corner pilasters topped with moulded capping. The memorial commemorates several family members: William Carrington, who died in 1833; Mary Carrington, who died in 1837; William Carrington, who died in 1840; Elizabeth Carrington, who died in 1852; John Carrington, who died in 1873; and Martha Carrington, who died in 1841.
