Description
The Church School, built between 1852 and 1853 by Henry Clutton, is a single-storey building with an attic to the north. Constructed from random coursed, chisel-dressed Hollington yellow sandstone, it features a tiled roof with verge parapets and an end stack to the north. The school has a simple layout, comprising a schoolroom and an adjoining lean-to range on the north and east sides.
The entrance elevation faces the church to the east and includes a 5-bay front with two-light stone mullioned casement windows, which are buttressed to the south. A hipped half-dormer with two trefoil-headed lights is positioned above this front. To the east, two bays are obscured by a hipped lean-to that has a central blind 5-light mullioned window and a door to the right. The main entrance is located in the south return of the lean-to. The south gable features a tall 5-light stone mullioned and transomed window. The school is situated on the edge of the churchyard, elevated near the church, making it particularly noticeable when approached from Old Hall Farm.
