Description

The Old Hall is an early 18th-century red brick house located on Church Street in Madeley. It features a hipped plain tile roof with a heavy modillion eaves cornice. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of five bays. The windows are restored sashes with glazing bars, and there are gauged flat brick arches with keystones above them. The central entrance has a moulded doorcase with a fielded panel door and a rectangular fanlight above. A restored plain shell hood supported by plain brackets and keystones of the door arch is positioned over the door. The house has three hipped dormers with leaded-pane casements and large brick end stacks. The rear of the building has a 2:1:2 bay arrangement with a hipped roof, where the centre is higher and slightly recessed. Inside, one ground floor room features bolection moulded panelling, while another has fielded panelling. There are also some stopped chamfered ceiling beams, but the interior is largely modern due to restoration and conversion into flats around 1980.
