Description

Wrockwardine Hall is a Grade II* listed building located in Wrockwardine, dating from 1628, as indicated by a date on the chimney stack over the right-hand part. The left-hand section was added in the 18th century when the entire structure was encased in red brick and features a hipped tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a seven bay front. The windows are sashes with glazing bars set in moulded frames. A wide central Doric doorcase is adorned with fluted pilasters and an entablature, topped with a segmental pediment, leading to a glazed and panelled door. There are three hipped dormers with moulded eaves and two brick ridge stacks, with the right-hand stack featuring the stone tablet dated 1628. The left-hand return showcases four bays of sashes, some with thick glazing bars. At the rear, there are more sashes and two round-arched stair sash windows with thick glazing bars, along with four hipped dormers and a fielded panel door with panelled pilasters and a pedimented hood. A large external brick stack is located at the rear. An 18th-century gabled wing is present at the east end, with an early 19th-century single-storey addition in the angle at the rear. Inside, there are two staircases: one from 1628 featuring turned balusters, and another from the Georgian period.
