Description

Pimhill Cottage is a pair of cottages, later divided into three, dating from the early and late 17th century, with a late 19th-century addition and late 20th-century alterations and additions. The main structure is timber framed on a brick plinth, with plastered and painted brick infill, partly rebuilt and extended using painted and rendered brick. There are planted timbers visible at the rear. The framing is a mix of early 17th-century large square panels (two from sole plate to wall plate, with short straight corner braces) and late 17th-century smaller square panels (four from sole plate to wall plate). The building follows an L-shaped plan, comprising four framed bays with a rear wing of one framed bay. It has two storeys and an attic, and two storeys. There are two gabled eaves dormers on the right side, each with a 3-light wooden casement. A central brick stack is located just behind the ridge, and there's an integral brick end stack on the left. The front elevation has five windows, featuring late 19th-century and late 20th-century one-, two-, and three-light wooden casements. A half-glazed door is located on the right. A doorway has been blocked between the first and second windows from the left. A two-storey addition was built in the late 19th century on the right, with an integral brick end stack, a first-floor 2-light wooden casement, and a ground-floor canted bay. The rear of the building includes three 20th-century dormers and flat-roofed 20th-century additions. The interior has not been inspected.
