Description

An open hall house, likely dating from the 14th or 15th century, was extensively remodelled in the early to mid-19th century and subsequently altered. It is now divided into two cottages. The structure is of rendered brick, concealing a timber frame, partly cruck-constructed, with a plain tile roof. A stack sits at the right end, and a smaller stack is positioned in front of the ridge to the left of the centre. The building is one storey and an attic, featuring a dentilled eaves cornice. The windows are irregular, with four 20th-century casements on the ground floor and two gabled dormers in the roof. The entrance to No. 4 is through a boarded door on the right, while No. 5 has a 20th-century glazed door in the left return. Inside, there are two arch-braced cruck trusses with an Alcock apex type L2.
