Number 53 on Cartway is an 18th-century building made of colourwashed brick. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three mullioned and transomed casement windows. The ground floor has three windows with shutters and a Dutch door. The building is topped with an old tile roof. Number 53 is part of a group that includes numbers 51 to 68 on Cartway and numbers 40 to 42 on River Side.
