Description

This early 19th-century stable block and coach house stands approximately 10 metres north west of The Mount Hotel. The building is constructed of red brick with sandstone ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof, with a hipped roof to the left. It comprises a small stable section to the left and a projecting coach house section to the right. The coach house features a triangular-pedimented gable with an oculus in the tympanum, and a small square cupola with a pyramidal lead cap and weathervane sits behind it. The building has two storeys and a raised eaves band. There are two bays on the left and a projection to the right. The left-hand section has wooden cross windows with stone sills and rusticated stone lintels featuring raised keystones. A central segmental-headed doorway is present, though no door was in place during a survey in November 1986. The right-hand section has a pair of blind round-arched panels on the first floor, each containing a small window, likely inserted later. The ground floor has been altered in the late 20th century with the addition of a pair of sliding, half-glazed garage doors. The building is included on the list for group value.
