Description
This building consists of a barn and an attached cottage located approximately 20 meters northeast of The Chestnuts. The barn, which dates from the late 17th century, has undergone later alterations. It is timber framed with red brick infill and features a graded slate roof. The barn has two levels, with vertical posts and long straight tension braces, and later horizontal timbers that create small square panels. There is a door to the right of center on the west side, a secondary door to the left, and eaves hatches to the left and center.
The attached cottage, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, also has later alterations. It is constructed from painted uncoursed limestone rubble and has a machine tile roof with a central brick ridge stack. The cottage is two stories high, with a segmental-headed three-light casement window to the left on the west side and a small casement window directly below the eaves to the right. There is an inserted entrance with double doors to the right and a boarded door on the gable end. This building is included for its group value.
